PRELIMINARY

A. Background research

The development of computer technology has made space limit the software and hardware is getting narrower. Computer system as sapat not be understood without an understanding of both aspects. If in the previous decade, digital logic circuits diangga need to be understood only by those who work in the field of hardware koputer, now recognized digital rangkaianlogika bring understanding is also a must for people who work in the field of software or a computer program.

Computers today are often found to the problems that often lead to performance on a PC to be unfavorable or unstable, and many lay people who use personal computers owned by an unnatural way, for example, using a computer sepsifikasinya weak to run software multimedia too weight so that the computer does not run properly and may cause damage to the software and kompone-pc components.

With the era as the development of solutions have been found to be the cause that often occurs in a component or software pc.

CHAPTER II

DISCUSSION

        Windows XP is an operating system (operating system) is the most widely used today because in addition to the ease of use of Windows XP is used as a standard of learning in use by school-school and college in general.To perform the installation of windows xp required accuracy and patience in the process because it requires a fairly long time.

A.    The minimum hardware specification required

Processor Pentium 1.5 Ghz / AMD equivalent

· CDROM / DVDROM drive

· 128 MB RAM

There are several kinds of windows xp include:

1) Windows xp professional

2) Home Edition

3) Media Center Edition

4) Tablet PC Edition

5) Starter Edition

6) Professional x64 Edition

7) Professional 64-bit Edition For Itanium.

B. Preparation prior to installation

1. Prepare the PC to be installed

2. Prepare the CD WINDOWS XP

3. Prepare the CD DRIVER MOTHERBOARD

C. Steps to Install Windows XP

1. Prepare the Windows XP installer CD complete with serial number

2. Turn on the computer and insert it into the CDROM / DVDROM

3. Go to the computer's BIOS by pressing DEL or F2 key immediately after you press the power button

4. Once inside the BIOS arrange to have the computer boot from CDROM / DVDROM through Boot Menu and then select Boot Device Priority item.


5. Change the 1st Boot Device to boot CDROM by pressing the + or - buttons on the keyboard. Then save by pressing F10, and then restart your computer


6. When you are prompted to press any key, PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD ... press a button as soon as possible
7. Wait for the process briefly then press Enter to continue the installation process of Windows XP, instead of R due to repair windows using Recovery Consule or F3 to end the install process
8. Appearing Lisencing Agreement to further press F8


9. If the hard drive is not in a partition as shown below, press C to create a new partition on the hard drive

10. Enter the partition capacity to be made in units of megabytes (MB) and press Enter to create a partition

11.Kemudian press the Enter key to continue the installation process of Windows XP or Delete to delete the partition.


12. Select only the NTFS file system (Quick) and press enter

13. Wait until the process is complete restart your computer so that the image appears below

14. When the following screen appears click Next

15. Fill in your name and organization up, then tap Next

16. Fill in the Product Key or Serial Number on the type of windows you after making sure the correct press Next again

17. Wait until the process is finished stuffing the computer name and password. You must fill in the computer name, but the password is ignored, then tap Next

18. Set Time Zone Set in the (GMT + 07: 00) click Next


19. Select Typical settings to default network option windows or Custom settings to set up your network manually and then click Next.

20. If the computer is connected to a LAN with a particular domain select the Yes option, and then fill in the name of the same DOMAIN DOMAIN LAN and vice versa if it is not connected to the LAN or connected to a LAN but without DOMAIN select the option No then press Next

21. Then click OK, Next, Skip and Finish

From the discussion above it can be concluded that:
We have a lot to know the techniques before installing Windows XP installation.
We must be careful in performing the installation of Windows XP.
we must ensure that we install the operating system correctly.
